MTBE Health Advisory Notice

Since this publication was issued, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) has changed the advisory for methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE). The updated advisory is 20-40 micrograms per liter and is termed a "drinking water advisory" (rather than the previously issued draft "drinking water health advisory"). The new advisory is described in USEPA publication EPA-822-F-97-009, Drinking Water Advisory: Consumer Acceptability Advice and Health Effects Analysis on Methyl Tertiary-Butyl Ether (MtBE), which is available on the World Wide Web at :
