This fact sheet presents information for assessing the quality of methyl-tert butyl ether (MTBE) data collected from ground water during 1993-95 as part of the U.S. Geological Survey's (USGS) National Water-Quality Assessment (NAWQA) program. Results indicate that the ground-water samples collected during 1993-95 are not positively biased due to sample contamination. Results also indicate favorable recovery of MTBE in ground-water samples and precise analyses.
